눈을 떠보니 이미 시작되어 있었다. 멈출 수도 없고 돌아갈 수도 없으며 정답도 알 수 없는 외로운 길.
길 위에서 때로는 뛰기도 하고 가끔은 힘들어 주저앉기도 하지만 결국은 앞으로 나아간다. 시작부터 끝까지 함께할 수는 없지만 가는 방향이 맞으면 잠시 같이 걷기도 한다. 그렇게 걷다가 뒤를 돌아보면 지난 시간을 지나온 수많은 내가 있다.
힘들어도 견뎌온 나, 죽고 싶어도 살아낸 나, 행복과 사랑 속의 나. 모두 간직하고 기억하고 싶다. 하나도 빠짐 없이. 그렇게 미래에도 긴 여행을 계속할 수많은 나를 위로하고, 애도하고, 축하해주고 싶다.
제목과 아래 인용은 모두 드라마 Doctor Who의 한때 주인공 Matt Smith가 극중에서 한 말이다. 어쩌다 보니 인상깊어서 가져왔다. 자막 달린 영상을 보고 나면 읽기가 쉽다. 맨 아래 링크에 영상과 번역본이 있다.
